For the past two weeks I’ve been dabbling in making my own video game using the PICO-8 platform. Here’s my first game. It’s called Escapa de La Tomatina.

The idea is, the hero has accidentally found himself at Spain’s annual La Tomatina festival where people go crazy throwing tomatoes at each other. He’s not happy and he wants to get out of there. To escape, he’ll need to dodge people’s tomatoes, stay healthy by eating food, pick up protective items like ponchos and umbrellas, and collect tomatoes he can use to defend himself. Level 10 has a final boss you’ll need to defeat to win the game.
